Most people love the look of very high ceilings, however very few people feel comfortable in a room that has them. People usually tell me that they spend very little time in such rooms.
If you have a ceiling in your home that is higher than 10 ft, you must apply some Feng Shui cures to give the impression that is is lower.
Cure a high ceiling by adding to the room features that will give the impression that the ceiling is lower.

See how desolate the image below looks. The double height of the ceiling makes the room feel uncomfortable because of the lack of scale, or proportion, with the human body.
Now compare the image above with the one below this text. It is a picture of the same room after the Feng Shui cures for high ceilings have been applied. If you scroll down, you will see an explanation of each of the cures.

- If at all possible draw a line at the 7 or 8 ft height on at least one wall in the room. In the example above you see this done with wooden moulding, but you could also do it with a slight change in the color of the wall (usually lighter above) or by placing wall paper below this line and having the wall just painted below.
- Hang the horizon cure on a wall so that the top of the frame is lined up with the top of the windows, the door, or both. Do the same with other artwork in the room.
- Lower light fixtures than hang from the ceiling so they are at a comfortable height.
- Light fixtures attached to the walls should be of the kind that push the light down (no uplighters, as these would "lift" the ceiling even more.)
- Also consider choosing tall furniture for rooms with high ceilings
