People often ask me what is considered a low ceiling (in terms of feet or meters) in order to need a Feng Shui correction. This is not an easy question to answer. It depends on the size of the room and the proportions and even the person's height may be a factor.

In the United States the standard ceiling height is 8 ft. This height feels very comfortable in a master bedroom, and it might feel very comfortable even in a family room. However, in a very large room, like the "great rooms" that are now common in higher end homes, this height may feel too low, oppressive.

As a general rule any ceilings under 7ft high should be cured. For rooms larger than 30 ft per side 8 ft would also be considered low.

Cure a low ceiling by:

1. Placing light fixtures that point the light towards the ceiling.

2. Using light colors on the walls and ceiling.

3. Choosing furniture that is lower than standard.
