What are your New Year's Resolutions for 2010?

One of my favorite popular sayings is "If you keep doing what you've been doing, you keep getting what you've been getting!"

Every year I see people start the new year with the same purposes as the last, and their main tool to achieve their goals is the same one they used last year: their own will. They believe that if only they are stronger willed this year they will get something other than what they have been getting -- if they had stronger will they could be more disciplined, they could control themselves better, they could achieve more, or stop being lazy...

My life experience has shown me that rarely any long term changes happen as a consequence of will. You can start out the year with the best of intentions but, shortly after, the initial impulse of your resolutions starts to fade away and if there isn't anything to sustain it except for your will, your resolutions will end up in dissolution and dissapointment.

Do something different

This year do something different. This year allow your surroundings to support your purposes and your new years resolutions. It is very easy to do with Feng Shui. Changes made in your environment support the changes you want to achieve in your emotions and your thought patterns, and these in turn guide you to make better decisions.

A one-size-fits-all cure

A tip that can be helpful for most people with a variety of purposes or resolutions is to "move 27 things." This cure really gets things moving. It stirs up the life force wherever it may have stagnated. They don't have to be big changes. For example a very significant change might be moving a bottle of moisturizer from the right side of your dresser to the left side, or moving the socks to a different drawer.

Be Creative

Allow your imagination to guide you as if the things you desire for your life already exist in the future and you are simply drawing them to you. If you have decided that this is the year you will find your life partner, how about making a collage of the things you most value in life? This will make it easier for the Universe to find you a match.

Be Literal

For example, if one of your purposes is to lose weight, try reorganizing the dining room or the kitchen. If you wish to attract more clients to your business, how about getting more filing cabinets or going through the ones you have to make room for new files?

Be "Faith-full"

One of the most remarkable aspects of Feng Shui is that it works better than what has been popularized as the "Law of Attraction." In real life, showing the Universe what you want works better than visualizing or intending what you want. Visualization and intention are great tools, however they are often neutralized by doubts and fears. With Feng Shui it is different. Once you place an object or a symbol of what you desire to attract to your life in specific areas of your home, your intentions are set in 3D. This sends a much more powerful message to the Universe.

Really better than the "Law of Attraction"

According to the teachers of the movie and book "The Secret," you have to bring yourself to a point of believing that the blessings you are asking for are coming towards you, so that you are able to attract them. This is a good teaching, but there is something even better. I have seen many people attract to themselves all kinds of blessings -- that at the time they were not able to believe were possible in their lives -- by placing the right Feng Shui cures in their home or business.

Instead of just working on your beliefs to produce changes in your life, you can allow life to show you that these changes are possible and easier to achieve than you had thought by placing certain objects in strategic places.

May 2010 bring all sorts of blessings into your life!

May many of those blessings come easily into your life through the right application of Feng Shui cures.
