Start 2009 with A Gratitude Bowl

The Gratitude Bowl is a manifesting tool.

Every religion and belief system known to mankind recommends some kind of prayer and most have found out that the prayer of gratitude is the most effective.

All Creation came from One source and creation is complete.

Everything that we might need or wish for has already been given to us, all we have to do is open up to receive the blessings. Gratitude is the magic key by which we can do this.

Get a bowl made of glass or ceramic [preferred] either clear color or yellow [preferred], brown, cream or tan. Place your gratitude bowl on a horizontal surface at waist height or higher, preferably near the center of the home or anywhere in your home where you feel safe and where it is easy for you to contact feelings of gratitude.

Every time you feel grateful about something write a note about it and put it in your gratitude bowl. At the end of this year count your blessings (I suggest you don't read them, just count them) and recycle the paper. For more details on how to work with a gratitude bowl please go to:

Can you do Feng Shui without crystals?

A common Feng Shui cure, sometimes called the "aspirin" of Feng Shui is the use of faceted crystals (prisms), usually round, to lift up, harmonize or redirect chi energy (the life force).

In the spring of 2008 I set out to find out if you could do Feng Shui without faceted crystals and put away all the crystals I had previously hung in our home. What I found out is that -- yes -- you can do Feng Shui without crystals, but it is a lot more expensive.

Let me share an example with you: we chose our current home because the kitchen, family room and kids' bedroom and my office are very integrated and it allows me to supervise the children while I work on my computer or while I prepare meals. There was one aspect of the home I didn't much like and that was that the foyer is small and doesn't have natural light. (Our kids call it "the elevator"). Aware of the Feng Shui problems a small dark foyer poses, as soon as we moved in this home I put up a 40 mm faceted crystal ball hanging from the middle of the ceiling, and another one at the end of the short hallway that connects with the foyer. I knew from experience that these cures would fix the energy circulation problems that came with this feature, and they did. When I decided to do "Feng Shui without crystals" I took out the faceted crystal balls and added brighter artwork, a Japanese mobile and beautiful silk flowers to our foyer. During the Spring and Summer this worked quite well. During the warmer months there is a lot of chi in the outer environment and it permeates homes like heat. When we opened the front door even for just a few minutes plenty of positive energy came in. However, as soon as the winter started I felt the energy of our home was being depleted. The entrance of a home is the "mouth of chi" so it is very important that positive energy be collected right outside the entrance and that plenty of that energy come in when you open the door or through windows and then be distributed gently to the rest of the home. I tried adding a larger mirror on a side wall. It helped some, but the entrance still felt sad. One day as I was organizing the kids' bedroom I felt sort of sad that though it has a South facing window, the window is not very big, so some areas of the home So I was faced with either having to put of the crystals again or getting a contractor to add a window to our foyer. A window would let in natural light and even sunshine in the afternoon and revitalize the energy of our foyer, which would in turn re-vitalize the energy of the whole home. Having a window added however was not in our home improvement budget... so I put up the crystals again and immediately the energy of our home perked up.
