Time to Declutter
The season of Fall is the best time of the year to declutter. All of nature around us is in the mood of "letting go," and if we tune in to the natural energies we can make our chores lighter.
If you live in the Southern Hemisphere and are entering the season of Spring, don't worry, the second best time of the year to declutter is the Spring.
Letting Go of the Old to Make Room
for the New
No matter where you live, this is a great time to go through drawers, cabinets and closets to let go of that which is no longer good, that which is broken or damaged beyond repair and that which you don't use or love. Let go of these things to make room for gifts that may come your way for Christmas.
Decluttering Knowledge
Take a look at your bookshelves and let go of those books that no longer reflect who you are or who you wish to be. Even books that may have been very important and changed your life at some point need to find another home if you have transcended their knowledge and arrived at better conclusions or have found better tools. This is part of your spiritual growth. Space made available on your shelves opens up opportunities for new wonderful books to reach you.
Decluttering Marriage and Relationships
One of the habits that can be most destructive to a present marriage or relationship, or that can curtail the chances of a single person finding a mate is that of keeping mementos from previous marriages or relationships. Let them go, they are part of the past! Embracing the present is one of the secrets of a good relationship.
Decluttering Friendships
One question that people write to ask me often is how to tell good friends from bad friends, or what to do to attract more positive people into their lives. Go through your home or office looking for gifts that were given to you by people who proved not to be good friends or who may have been friends in the past but no longer help you work towards your highest good or are living a lifestyle that is contrary to your goals. Let those gifts go to send a message to the Universe that those are not the kinds of friendships you want to invite into your life. On the other hand, choose the gifts that were given to you by good friends from the past and present and display them in your dining area or in the family room.
Decluttering Health
Here is an easy tip to send the message out to Life that you want to experience greater health: clean up your cabinets and the refrigerator and look at expiration dates to let go of anything in your kitchen or pantry that has gone bad. Let go of food items that you know are not good for you. This doesn't mean that you have to deny yourself any treats, it just means you shouldn't keep them at home. For example, I love cookies, but cookies are very fattening and I don't just eat one, so I don't buy cookies to keep at home, but do enjoy them when I eat out or when I am visiting a friend.
